Last night's episode of 30 Rock was a fake reality show (called Queen of Jordan) that skewered Bravo's Top Chef and Real Housewives franchises. Diana, who has a secret relationship with Jack, tries to come up with a lie to cover the slip up that she didn't want her daughter Avery to find out "about us."
So she claims to have said she doesn't want her daughter to know about "Rus," the mythological founder of Russia, because "Jack has invested a lot of money in a restaurant... called Rus. It is Russian cuisine! Who doesn't love cold purple soup?" And surprise: "The grand opening is tonight!"
So in a typical Top Chef/Restaurant Wars style drama — with flower arrangements and all — they open Rus in a hotel ballroom aka the Curry House Banquet Hall. On the menu: "All the pierogies Costco had... and then Burger King."
