In what is possibly the most important trick a robot has ever been taught, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have taught a robot how to take drink orders and then fetch the drinks. (Oh, and it'll get snacks too.) The PR2 takes the order on a tablet and then finds and delivers the drink required. The PR2 has been taught similar tricks in the past, as well as facial recognition to remember who ordered which drink. In the video below, PR2 fetches a can of Coke and some Goldfish crackers, but surely this thing has a brighter future as a beer maid.
