Chris Cosentino's Cookbook Has a 'Figs on a Plate' Recipe

Oh, this is just a recipe for figs on a plate from San Francisco chef Chris Cosentino's upcoming cookbook, Beginnings (out May 8 from Weldon Owen, preorder on Amazon). Well, more accurately, this is a recipe for Figs, Marcona Almonds & Port Vinaigrette, but Cosentino includes it as a nod to New York chef David Chang, who infamously once said of his West Coast colleagues, "Fucking every restaurant in San Francisco is serving figs on a plate with nothing on it." See, Chang, not nothing: this has vinaigrette, greens, and almonds.

For the record, Cosentino is "glad he said it, because it created a dialogue for change." Here's a closeup of his intro to the recipe:
