burger-king-meat-prices-rise-eater.jpgAlthough sales have been improving for Burger King, the rising costs of beef have proven a serious challenge to the company's bottom line. “The sales momentum in the fourth quarter was simply not great enough to overcome increases in commodity costs, particularly, higher ground beef prices,” says President and COO Dan Accordino. Ground beef costs averaged $1.86 per pound during quarter four of 2011, which 19% higher than a year earlier. It's now averaging $2.06. [Burger Business]
