Well Yeah, Alice Waters Makes Breakfast Every Day Over a Roaring Fire

New, 7 comments

Stuart Leavenworth of the Sacramento Bee got dreamer/Chez Panisse founder Alice Waters on the line and asked her what she eats for breakfast, because "journalists always ask that question." Her response:

"There is a little whole wheat flat bread I make. I put it on the fire and spread it with hummus. And I have it with some Chinese tea."

Every day? Every day: "Well, you would think I would get tired of it, but I don't." Waters switched over to the bread due to her having high cholesterol; she used to have "an egg cooked in a long metal spoon," also cooked over the fire. Don't worry, the whole grains fixed that cholesterol problem.
