Christopher Kostow, the chef of the three-star Michelin restaurant The Restaurant at Meadowood, gets a profile piece in the latest issue of Time magazine (paywalled), and in the story he reveals some big plans for his St. Helena home base . Quote: "He is in talks to open a casual restaurant near Meadowood and has designs on a barbecue spot nearby." He confirmed the plans to Eater SF, saying the concepts will be completely local and an "extension of the ideas we're working on at Meadowood."
The Time piece also goes into Kostow's ambitions: "Kostow intends to build a food destination around himself in St. Helena—just as [Thomas] Keller did down the road in Yountville 20 years ago..." And then there's this line: "Kostow is impatient to transform the perception of the valley from elitist enclave to vibrant artisan haven cum locavore utopia: a city on a hill where Kostow is mayor and magistrate." Question: Will Kostow's barbecue place be called BarbeKostow? Or KostowCue?
