Last week, restaurateur/MasterChef judge Joe Bastianich told The Celebrity Cafe that he was working on "a pilot on a scripted version of Restaurant Man," his 2012 memoir of life in New York's restaurant world. Now a credible source tells Eater the pilot has been ordered "from a major cable network." The source didn't name the network; best guesses would be Bravo (who's trying to get into the scripted genre) and FX.
The working title is Hungry, and one can assume it will be full of the same type of insidery restaurateur intel that earned the book a spot on Eater's Essential 2012 Food Books list. It is unclear whether the show will be based on Bastianich's actual restaurants with Mario Batali, or (more likely) fake restaurants owned by, say, Moe Lastianich and Dario Patali. Those are all the details available for now; stay tuned.
