Mugaritz Wire

mugaritz-eater-foie.jpgLooks like restaurants in Spain are not immune to anti-foie backlash: amid pressure from animal rights group Igualdad Animal, the Basque government has issued a sanction to Andoni Luis Aduriz's two-Michelin-starred Mugaritz for serving foie from a farm that's apparently in violation of certain sanitary regulations. Mugaritz says the problem's due to the administrative error of not listing the small, family-owned farm as a purveyor. And Spanish paper of record El País explains that Mugaritz has a lab that analyzes all of its products before use. [El País]
