The lineup for the second annual Mésamerica Festival in Mexico City has been announced. As was the case in its inaugural year, the roster is divided more or less evenly between speakers from Mexico and outside the country. Some of the visitors: René Redzepi (Noma, Denmark), Alex Atala (DOM, Brazil), Daniel Humm and Will Guidara (Eleven Madison Park, USA), David Kinch (Manresa, USA), Andoni Luis Aduriz (Mugaritz, Spain), and Alinea, Next, Aviary designer Martin Kastner (Crucial Detail, USA). On the Mexican side, there are no repeats from last year, and standouts include Jorge Vallejo (Quintonil), Gabriela Cámara, and Elena Reygadas (Rosetta).
According to Enrique Olvera, who runs the festival and is the chef at Pujol (ranked #36 on the World's 50 Best List), "the objective of Mesamerica is to promote Mexican cuisine as well as to raise the quality, education, and professional standards in the country." The second edition's dates are May 20 - 22, 2013. Here's the full lineup:
