Michelin Guide Announces 2013 Stars For Italy

Michelin is on a roll: just yesterday, the restaurant guide announced its 2013 stars for Chicago, and today Italy gets its 2013 update (warning: PDF). Chef Enrico Crippa's Piazza Duomo in Alba got its third star, bringing the three-star tally in Italy up to seven. There are three new two-star restaurants: Antica Osteria Cera in Campagna Lupia /Lughetto, Agli Amici in Udine/Godia, and La Trota in Rivodutri.

The grand star total in Italy is now seven three-stars, 39 two-stars, and 261 one-stars. For some context, Germany currently has ten three-stars, Western Japan has 12, New York City has seven, and the UK has four. Many 2013 Michelin Guides have yet to be released for 2013, including the perennial three-star power house, France. Below, Italy's newest stars.
