FEMA Disaster Relief Available For Bars, Restaurants

Attention storm-battered restaurant and bar proprietors: President Obama has declared a state of disaster in several areas due to Hurricane Sandy, which means FEMA funds might be available to help with cleanup and recovery. Check out DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA between 7:00AM and 10:00PM Eastern time for details. According to the National Restaurant Association, FEMA may be able to help with "debris removal and emergency protective measures. Other assistance could include low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses."

Storm damage and power outages have forced restaurants to throw out valuable inventory and remain closed for days on end, which is potentially devastating in an industry with impossibly tight profit margins. If you haven't personally been affected by the storm and want to help out, the White House has some resources on the best ways to do that.
