Heston Blumenthal Dabbling in Tampon Palate Cleansers

New, 3 comments

Sure why not: Michelin star-bespangled British chef Heston Blumenthal tells the Guardian he sometimes sucks on tampons to cleanse his palate. Although he notes it's "quite funny sitting there with the little string coming out of your mouth," he says that "If you drain the moisture in your mouth you experience richness, creaminess and sweetness more intensely ... and there is really nothing much more absorbent than a tampon." Can't argue with that.

Don't worry, though, he doesn't plan on serving them at the restaurant: "There is no way I am thinking of serving tampons to people in a restaurant." Nope, this is just an extracurricular activity. Apparently you won't need to suck on a tampon to taste the richness of Blumenthal's new Waitrose supermarket dinners: according to the Daily Star, "One of the items in the new Heston range contains more than the total recommended daily amount of saturated fat for an adult."
