Several locations of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which is known for putting together quote-along movie feasts, are releasing two signature wines for Valentine's Day inspired by director Rob Reiner's 1987 cult classic The Princess Bride. "The Bottle of Wits" (after the "battle of wits" scene in the film — clever!) is the name of the line, and its two wines are "Inconceivable Cab," a California Cabernet, and "As You Wish White," a California blend. The release is in honor of the film's 25th anniversary.
"The Battle of Wits sequence between Cary Elwes and Wallace Shawn easily stands toe-to-toe with the Sideways spit bucket and The Silence of the Lambs Chianti slurp as wine’s shining moment in film,” said Alamo CEO and Founder Tim League.
To coincide with the wine line's release, the first The Princess Bride theme feast will take place on Valentine's Day at the four Alamo locations in Austin, Texas. There will also be feasts in Houston (also on Valentine's Day), San Antonio (February 15) and Winchester, Virginia (February 16). And soon, you'll also be able to order the wines from Princess Bride Wine's website.
