Jamawn Woods, the winner of America's Next Great Restaurant, is opening a location of his Soul Daddy concept in his hometown of Detroit. The three Soul Daddy locations Woods "won" from the show, located in New York, Los Angeles, and Bloomington, Minnesota, all shuttered almost as quickly as they opened, but things seem to be working out for Woods. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, he settled a lawsuit against the show out of court and got to keep the restaurant's name, recipes, and the equipment from the New York store.

He and a partner are building a new Soul Daddy from the ground up, but it's going to vary a little from Woods' original healthy soul food concept. Woods is adding fried chicken to the menu and told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "We're going to keep some of the healthy foods...but since I'm in my hometown, I know people aren't all worried about healthy foods."

Also: Woods is going back to work at his old job at Chrysler as a forklift driver in October, he's the coach of a kids' football team, and he's attending a a two-year culinary school program. The opening date of the new 80-seat Soul Daddy is not set yet, but construction has already started. Here's hoping fourth time's a charm.
