Here's a peek at Christina Tosi's Momofuku Milk Bar Cookbook (buy on Amazon), a book that brings the power of cereal milk, crack pie, and corn cookies to the people. Charmingly, Tosi says she's "surrendering all of [her] favorite recipes to you" on the condition that you "clock in" and take your work seriously. While the recipes are not necessarily for the novice — some, particularly the layer cakes, have several sub-recipes — they are on the whole significantly more approachable than, say David Chang's Momofuku Cookbook, which famously features a 48-hour recipe for short ribs. In Chang's foreword, he writes, "Resistance to her sugar manifesto is futile."
Mark it: Tosi's cookbook will get used. Expect compost cookies at office functions and potlucks after its release on October 25.
