Just over a week ago, the story broke that burglars had stolen from several prestigious restaurants in the Basque region of Spain, among them Arzak and Akelarre. It appears they continue to strike, and this time the big name target is Martín Berasategui's eponymous Michelin three-star, bringing the total of restaurants hit to seven.
According to a report in El País, the burglars broke in late yesterday evening and spent the whole night collecting various objects, including silverware and chefs' knives. They fled into the nearby woods.
They did plenty of damage, and when Berasategui walked into the restaurant this morning, he found all of the busted locks set out on one table, "as if they were trying to play a prank on us." Despite all, the restaurant opened for business.
