Fighting Food Deserts

dc-central-kitchen-logo.jpgIn what is good news for those residing in Washington, DC's food deserts, the DC Central Kitchen (José Andrés is on the board) is launching a program called Healthy Corners that will provide corner stores with low-cost fresh fruits and vegetables. In a nice touch, they're also throwing in free refrigeration units to hold the produce. [WaPo via Eater DC]
