Red Lobster is the latest company to roll out an ad campaign that focuses on its own workers. The New York Times reports that the seafood chain's new commercials will feature, among others, Alaskan crab fisherman Jon Forsythe, and Charles Himple, "who presides over the oak-wood grill at the Red Lobster restaurant in the Bronx."
The strategy behind this carefully conceived corporate marketing campaign: remind people that Red Lobster is down-homey, authentic and totally non-corporate. The company is also debuting a new slogan, "Sea Food Differently" and renovating a bunch of its stores to look like the coastal Maine town of Bar Harbor. The commercials debut Monday.
