Texas Monthly iPhone App Tracks BBQ Across the World

Here's the new Texas Monthly BBQ app from the magazine that produces the Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas list every five years. The free app — currently only available for iPhone — finds barbecue based on your location anywhere in the world. It also features reviews (just of the Texas locations), message boards, and a check-in feature that posts to a leaderboard on the magazine's brand new barbecue website.

You can rise in the barbecue ranks as you check in to more and more places, with titles that range from "casual enthusiast" to "pit pundit" to "BBQ junkie." As one user notes, "The new @TexasMonthly BBQ leaderboard is basically Foursquare for heart disease."
