New Orleans chef John Besh is opening a new restaurant in the National WWII Museum called the Soda Shop. Besh already owns an upscale restaurant, the American Sector, in the museum, but the Soda Shop is a little more laid-back, serving sandwiches, and, as its name implies, his hand-crafted sodas.
Also in the restaurant's future: "the Creole tomato sandwich will make a comeback," as will pimento cheese, and there will be "a build a biscuit kind of deal" at breakfast. The restaurant opens — when else? — on the Fourth of July.
