Random House Publishing Group announced on Twitter today that they signed a book deal with chef and troublemaker Eddie Huang. They say it's going to be a "memoir of food, family and the Asian-American dream." Reached for comment, Huang said that the working title is Fresh Off the Boat (the same as his blog).
He also said that his mom is really happy about it and that she wants half the advance. Looks like writing recaps of Top Chef Masters for Eater worked out pretty well for the guy. Next stop: movie adaptation.
Update: The description on Publishers Marketplace calls it "a gonzo foodie's journey pitched in the tradition of Anthony Bourdain and a classic immigrant coming-of-age story."
