The Melt

The%20Melt.jpgJonathan Kaplan, the guy behind the Flip Camera, has enlisted chef Michael Mina as a consultant to help him launch a chain of grilled cheese and soup shops called The Melt. The aim is for 500 locations by 2015. The concept hinges on technology allowing customers to get their grilled cheese order one minute after they arrive at the restaurant, and they already have three leases signed in San Francisco. Says Kaplan, “What I did with Flip was use technology to make people happy. Grilled cheese is like that." [ISSF via Eater SF]
