Treme Watch: Asking For a Day Off

Last night on Treme, Janette Desautel is working at the restaurant in New York when she gets a phone call and discovers that her New Orleans house was broken into. She asks the tyrannical chef Enrico Brulard for the day off to go deal with the situation. It did not go over well.

Said Brulard: "You made a commitment to being here, and more important, you made a personal commitment to me, to the people you work with, to be here... Do I have a life? This is my life. Commitment. That's all I ask... I can teach skills, I can teach people how to cook. Character? That I can't teach. Go."
