The New Orleans restaurant community is teaming up to help Nathanial Zimet, the chef/owner of Boucherie, who was shot in his car during an attempted robbery. Zimet is expected to survive his injuries, but as is the case with many chefs, he has no health insurance — and as his time in the hospital goes by, the bills have started stacking up.
Fundraisers for the chef include a big event on July 10 at the Howlin' Wolf called Beasts & Brass that includes 15 restaurants to date, and a separate beer tasting that is still being planned. Several restaurants are running specials benefiting the Nathanial J. Zimet Fund, which also accepts direct donations through Pay Pal.
