Restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten has closed six restaurants in his career, but says that the "hardest close" was V Steakhouse in Manhattan's Time Warner Center. Introducing new flavors into the familiar steakhouse concept didn't fly, even in adventurous New York. Diners "want their Caesar salads and their French fries," he says.
