Aziz Ansari Breaks Down His Food Lexicon

New, 4 comments

Last night's episode of Parks and Recreation had a whole food subplot that sent our hero Ron Swanson to a health food store and had him compete in a burger contest against manager Chris Traeger's turkey burger (which is not, in fact, a "fried turkey leg inside a grilled hamburger").

But the standout bit from the episode was Tom Haverford (aka Aziz Ansari) breaking down his food terminologies: "Zerts are what i call desserts, tre-tres are entrees... I call cakes big ol' cookies, I call noodles long-ass rice. Fried chicken is fry-fry chicky-chick, chicken parm is chicky-chicky parm-parm."

Video of Aziz Ansari, Ron Swanson at the health food store, and likely the first mention of "umami" on network television, below:

Also: NBC posted the recipe for Ron Swanson's "A Hamburger" and Chris Traeger's "East-Meets-West" Traeger Turkey Burger.
