A commis chef at Gordon Ramsay at the London in New York has filed sexual harassment complaints against the hotel and the British chef. Who doesn't actually own the restaurant anymore? He is a consultant, though.
Anyway, the male chefs at the restaurant were so upset by the complaint — which claims they groped, sexually propositioned, and verbally taunted the female chef — that they staged a walkout. Since then, they've been suspended without pay and the whole restaurant is shut down until Tuesday.
Late this afternoon, a Ramsay spokesperson contacted us with the following statement:
“Gordon Ramsay has not been served with any proceedings and these allegations do not relate to him in anyway. The restaurant ‘Gordon Ramsay’ at The London, New York is not owned or operated by Gordon Ramsay or Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) and hasn’t been since November 2009 when all operations were handed back to the hotel. Neither Gordon Ramsay or GRH have any involvement with or responsibility for the operation of the restaurant, including anything to do with human resources which is entirely the responsibility of the owners.”
