Being a judge for the James Beard Cookbooks Awards is an arduous task; one that involves heavy lifting, lots of recipe-testing and many hard decisions. It's important to be thorough, though, after all, "It's impossible not to continually remember that if it were your cookbook up for review, you'd want a fair shake."
