On Sunday night's Iron Chef America, John Rivera Sedlar (Playa and Rivera, Los Angeles) — who's been called the "father of modern Southwest cuisine" — challenged Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto in battle quail. Sedlar took a Latin approach and, believing that "food can communicate," felt the need to spell out words like "¡Hola!" and "Caution" on his plates. There was a also a gas mask illustrated on one plate? Morimoto approach was more global in spirit. The videos, and the result, below.
