The 100 Nominees for Food & Wine's People's Best New Chef

Here they are: Food & Wine's nominees for their new award, The People's Best New Chef competition, in which readers vote online for the winner. There are ten nominees from ten regions, and the regions are clearly drawn in order to give certain areas a better shot at making it to the finals. (Northwest separates Portland and Seattle from the California chefs, for example, and Great Lakes separates Chicago from the Midwest chefs).

Also, no nominees for Houston, even though it wasn't too long ago that chef Bryan Caswell hit up Eatocracy (which has partnered with F&W on this award) to ask what it would "take for Houston to get the recognition it deserves from the nation's top culinary publications."

While the press release said that "Inclusion as a nominee for The People's Best New Chef award does not preclude consideration for a Best New Chef award," this is is possibly maybe a short list for Food & Wine's Best New Chef awards:
