Broke Americans are not only very broke but they're also very hungry, and the Subway "sandwich" chain is going to do its patriotic duty by filling people's maws with $2 six-inch meatball and cold-cut subs. "It's a magical price point," a consumer psychologist told the USA Today today. "What it communicates to consumers is that Subway is on their side." Or on the side of pure, magical deliciousness. Because who doesn't like soy protein concentrate in their meatballs and the one-two flavor punch of corn syrup AND high fructose corn syrup in their marinara sauce? No, really.
