Now that the holidays are officially upon us, it's probably time for a drink. Thankfully, New York barmaster Jim Meehan is on hand with his PDT Cocktail Book, out today from Sterling Epicure (buy on Amazon). Despite the fact that the name of Meehan's speakeasy stands for "Please Don't Tell," here he spills all his secrets, telling Eater the book contains "every original recipe we've served until Spring 2010 and more."

With illustrations from artist Chris Gall that play up the often punny nature of cocktail names, PDT is a gorgeous guide to the art of the mixed drink. In addition to the cocktail recipes themselves, the book contains a walk through of the bar's hyper-efficient setup, a glossary of bar glass types, and an annotated guide to the books you'll need to achieve ultimate cocktail nerdom.

Bonus: recipes for the chef hot dogs at Crif Dogs, the hot dog counter that provides the front for the hidden cocktail bar, including the Humm Dog, the Chang Dog and the Wylie Dog. Meehan says he's thinks it's the first time Wylie Dufresne's recipe for Fried Mayonnaise has appeared in print. Here's a trailer for the book:
