Time to check in with José Andrés: the Washington, DC-based chef has signed a deal with Ritz-Carlton to open a restaurant at their upcoming luxury Dorado Beach resort in Puerto Rico. It's his first restaurant outside the continental US.
Opening in December of 2012, the restaurant will mix Spanish, American, and Puerto Rican cuisines, will serve breakfast and dinner (no lunch?) and will feature "a lively Rum Bar." Also, interiors will be done by Adam D. Tihany, who is responsible for designing New York restaurants Daniel, Le Cirque, Per Se and Jean Georges. Can't blame Andrés for setting up shop in Puerto Rico; beachy business trips, ahoy.
