Last month Google announced that they acquired the proto-Yelp restaurant survey, Zagat, but the price was never revealed (it was rumored to be somewhere between $100M to $200M). According to Google's quarterly report submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday, Google paid $151 million in cash. Not a bad take for the "pioneer" of user-generated "content" wrapped in "quotes." The company's founders, Tim and Nina Zagat, said they'd remain "active in the business as co-Chair." We have yet to see what, exactly, Google is going to do with Zagat. Maybe soon?
