After selling out in a mere ten hours last week, the Childhood mutation of Grant Achatz's shapeshifting Chicago restaurant Next launched this weekend. According to Achatz, people are really getting into it, dressing up in "Superman tshirts under sportcoats, girl scout sashes, flannel shirts." The menu riffs on kid favorites like peanut butter and jelly, chicken noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, hamburgers, and more.
Below, a preview video of the menu (you can find many more on Achatz's Twitter account) reveals that at one point a dessert is served on the beater of a handheld mixer, and then you get to lick it off. In the middle of a fancy restaurant.
