In Sam Sifton's last review for the New York Times, he declares Thomas Keller's Per Se to be the Best Restaurant in New York. After comparing it to other New York dining giants — Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park, Daniel and Del Posto — he writes, "No restaurant in New York City does a better job than Per Se of making personal and revelatory the process of spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on food and drink."
