The New York Times explores the world of tabletop directors, the folks who film the dripping, oozing, steaming food seen in commercials by an estimated tens of millions each week. Says director Michael Somoroff of his craft: "To do that with something as banal as food is the challenge. I mean, it's easy to go out and shoot a beautiful sunset or a beautiful girl.
