Semi-homemade Food Network host Sandra Lee is now New York state's Semi-First Lady (she doesn't have an official title) after long-time boyfriend Andrew Cuomo was sworn in on January 1. She even held the bible over which his oath was taken! So what does Lee plan to do now that her man's in office?
Not much: Lee won't have a state-funded security detail, hiring a private company instead, and she won't live in the governor's mansion. Lee did spend inauguration night there with the "2-month-old cockatoo so fragile he needed to sleep next to a heating lamp for warmth" that Cuomo gave her for Christmas. The New York Post also won't let you forget that the room was once Cuomo's parents' bedroom, which, ew.
Lee, who has worked with groups like Share Our Strength in the past, also plans on upping her "public-service pursuits" now that Cuomo's in office, focusing on hunger in lower- and middle-class populations. Semi-homemade dinner for everyone! We guess food banks get a lot of donations in the form of canned goods? In any case, her charitable efforts will not be funded by the governor's office, so there's that. Lee will continue working on her shows, Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee and Sandra's Money Saving Meals, in addition to her magazine and cookbooks.
