Obama Made a Joke About Salmon at the State of the Union

Last night during President Obama's State of the Union address titled "Winning the Future," he spoke about the need to cut government spending and used salmon as example of the byzantine layers of bureaucracy. "Then there's my favorite example: the Interior Department is in charge of salmon while they're in fresh water, but the Commerce Department handles them in when they're in saltwater," he quipped. "And I hear it gets even more complicated once they're smoked."

Above, a still from the enhanced web stream that illustrated the concept further. And forget education or investments in green technology, salmon is the main thing that people remember from the speech.
