After years of disputes, a group of Florida farmworkers will receive a wage increase of about one penny per pound of tomatoes picked. That may not sound like a lot, but apparently "could add thousands of dollars to their income." Some large corporate buyers (Burger King, McDonald's) had already been paying the new wage for years, but a dispute with a trade association left the money — an estimated $2 million — locked in escrow.
