As anyone who's worked in the restaurant industry could tell you, it's not uncommon for both cooks and servers to work through an illness. It's just an unsanitary, regrettable aspect of the industry, but not one that many feel they have a way to get around. A new survey from restaurant workers' rights organization The Restaurant Opportunities Centers United shows that this is an industry-wide epidemic, with over 60% of service workers reporting they have gone in to work sick. Then again, with almost 90% of the same group saying they don't receive sick pay or health insurance, we're a little surprised that number's not higher.
