Daniel Patterson on New York Food

daniel-patterson-150.jpgIn honor of this weekend's Le Grand Fooding coastal cook-off, San Francisco chef Daniel Patterson takes on West Coast cuisine in a largely beautiful meditation on what it means to tell a story with food. But he manages to squeeze some jabs in at the end: "New Yorkers' love affair with tuna tartare has inexplicably entered its third decade. Every dish seems to have bacon in it... And what's with the all the 'gourmet' fried chicken?" Them's fightin words! [NYTMag]
