According to the CDC, one third of Americans are obese, with the number of obese American adults increasing by 2.4 million from 2007 to 2009, as reported by NBC. The statistics are staggering: 220,000 people undergo "obesity surgeries" every year, and obesity accounts for 10% of all medical costs (or $150 billion) a year. Oh, and since those stats are based on phone interviews? They're probably underestimated by at least seven percent. It looks like it might take more than hundreds of chefs, some gross posters, or Jamie Oliver and some puppets to save America from its fat guzzling ways.
