restaurant-closings-150.jpgWhile some aspects of the economy may be rebounding, that is not the case for the restaurant industry: research firm NPD Group has found that the country has lost restaurants for the first time in a decade, and almost a third of those closings were in California. Unfortunately, it's the mom-and-pop independents being hit the hardest; a mere 111 chains shut down nationwide. [LAT]
