The Los Angeles Times credits the Obamas with invigorating the Washington food scene and, although one might argue the DC has been popping for sometime (José Andrés, for example, has been there since 1993), they have certainly drawn press to the city's dining establishments. Preferring restaurants that trumpet local, sustainable cuisine, the Obamas often eat in restaurants that mirror the philosophy trumpeted by the White House healthy eating initiatives. Not a bad way to promote your political agenda. [LAT, WSJ]
