Michael Batterberry, founder of Food Arts and Food & Wine magazine, died today at the age of 78. An obituary in Wine Spectator reveals Batterberry led quite the life prior to his food writing days: "he was a cabaret singer in Rome, a sketch artist for the Paris Review and worked on numerous Italian films."
