The Chinese government is increasing efforts to block the sale of "gutter oil" — cooking oil that's resold after it has been used. Recycled oil contains carcinogens in the form of molds and other chemicals that develop during the frying process: "The China Daily reported last November that authorities in Guangdong province had busted two large oil resellers. One was producing 10 tons per day and another had stored more than 32 tons of illegal oil." [AP]
