McDonald's Cancels Smoothie Giveaway

Fearing an epic, Oprah/KFC-style PR disaster, McDonald's has canceled a free smoothie giveaway. The beverages, which come in strawberry banana and wild berry flavors, launched July 13, and the fast food chain had planned on offering free in-store samples July 22 through 24. However, due to the "overwhelming popularity" of the new drink and concerns that their stores might run out of smoothie supplies, McDonald's panicked and called off the marketing stunt. They are considering rescheduling the giveaway after smoothie fatigue sets in and customers are no longer clamoring to pay for them.
