Watch out Harry Potter! Publishers Marketplace brings the news that author Greg Taylor's 2009 debut kids' novel Killer Pizza, about a fourteen-year-old who dreams of being a chef and gets a summer job at a pizza store only to discover that it's a front for a monster-hunting organization, has been picked up to be a movie. (Greg Taylor was also the screenwriter for Jumanji and Harriet the Spy.) Here are the details:

Greg Taylor's KILLER PIZZA, about a 14-year old who lands a summer job at a pizza joint that is actually a front for a monster-hunting organization to 1492 Pictures and CJ Entertainment, with Raffaella de Laurentiis attached to produce and Adam Green adapting, by CAA, on behalf of Scott Miller at Trident Media Group.

1492 Pictures has produced films like the first three Harry Potter movies, the Night at the Museum movies, and uh, the Fantastic Four movies. So sort of a mixed bag, but Killer Pizza could end up being a whole new food/monster franchise. Alas, IMDB lists the film as "in development," so it's a long ways off. Here's the book's trailer:
