Oregon chef Jason Stoller Smith held a traditional Native American salmon bake at a White House picnic earlier this month. Stoller Smith drove 100 alder sapling across the country for the event and used them to smoke sides of wild Alaskan salmon over a 45-foot-long fire pit in the White House lawn. [OregonLive]
